Summer is here, the mercury is climbing and with it rises the desire to have lunch on the grass. What could be better than a picnic in the loveliest parks that Paris has to offer? You’ll be spoiled for choice among the capital’s many gorgeous green spaces! Verdant surroundings, varied activities... The Grand Hotel Saint-Michel suggests some great places to take a wicker basket and cooler.
In the Jardin des Tuileries
Relaxing on the famous green seats of the Tuileries while enjoying a view of the Louvre is an iconic Parisian experience. The Jardin des Tuileries, the oldest public park in France, offers leisurely strolls along pleasant paths in the shade of trees. Relish a family picnic and have fun from June to August at the Fête des Tuileries, a traditional funfair with many rides and other attractions.
In the Jardin du Trocadero
Situated in the 16th arrondissement, the Jardin du Trocadero is a charming place of manicured greenery and dancing fountains. It’s the ideal place to have lunch on the grass while enjoying an unobstructed and close-up view of the Eiffel Tower.
In the Parc André Citroën
This 24-hectare park is an eclectic and unusual green space on the banks of the Seine. Its many themed gardens, fountains and large tropical greenhouses provide the perfect backdrop while you munch through the contents of your picnic basket. Sports and games facilities and a tethered hot air balloon that will take you 150 metres into the Parisian sky seal the deal.
In the Jardin du Champs de Mars
Located at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the Jardin du Champ de Mars is one of the largest public parks in the capital. You’ll have no problem in finding a spot to enjoy your picnic and, as a bonus, you get magnificent views of the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadero and the Ecole Militaire.
